Question for those born between ’75 – ’84?
smittyj20 asked:
Let 's face it. We are one of the greatest generations out there. Television when we were kids was the pinnacle in life. Remember shows like: The Muppets, the Thundercats, The Smurfs, just simply, the She-Man, the Snorks, the fourth of the Mameluke, fraggle rock, etc.. The list goes unabated. What was your favorite show? Why? Let 's face it – kids today just shows don' t compare.
Darth Vader

He-man and She-ra was the best. I really hated the remake that aired on Cartoon Network.

Rainbow brite when I was in my 4-5 years old, later, I fell for Jem and the Hollograms….. I dreamed of being a rock-pop star, and now I’m in the commercialization area for a non-serious farmer…. life *****

She-man? The hell station were you watching in the 80s???
Thundercats in my memory was badass. Thundercats in reality was just ***. Post first season the animation was crap, the writing, etc. Thank god for the internet– Thundercats live on in voice-over outtake infamy.
Oh and Cheetara. GI Joe’s Lady Jane. To a lesser extent Teela on He-Man. God, anything that had a fighter chic was good times. You gotta have a character you can “play” @ recess, you know? What other options did girls have? “Look at me, I’m Strawberry Shortcake. My super power? Smelling like a fruit! Woo!” I guess now in a post Buffy/Lara Croft/Xena world strong cartoon chics on TV arre common. Not back then, tho.
Voltron was fun– the wolf one, not the “mini-vans in space” version. GoBots– lame then, lame now. Holy crap, snorks. I vaguely remember that series.
I can’t **** on anything Jim Henson from that era. Great stuff.
I don’t know about kids shows today. There is no Saturday morning cartoon block anymore, is there? There’s a lot of cartoon options on cable, that’s for sure– JLU, Avatar, Dexter’s, Powerpuff, etc. And most of them are less blatantly toy commericials than others. And the animation quality has gone up. But if you don’t like anime then you are SOL nowadays, since dubbing & repackaging long running series for the american market is so much cheaper than producing new content.
My long winded $.02. Clearly I’ve thought about this too much.

I didn’t start watching She-Man shows until I was in college. I think you meant “She-Ra.”
And, Thundercats was the best show ever.
