i’d also like to add that i don’t huff paint, and i used to come here frequently. a lot of people in other sections (and you) are very rude and this place used to be non elitist and full of non music related questions asked by people who this place was familiar to.
also, i thought it was a pretty funny thing to ask, i’m not asking which of the jonas brothers you’d go down on or whats your favorite hannah montana song is, or who the beatles are. maybe you’re just mean spirited, and your lack of coffee doesn’t mean you can go on a rant about me. thanks:)

I get what this is all about, and I’m certainly not going to deny the inanity of both that question and the fact that it does run rampant in R&P these days, but it’s kind of sucky to single her out like this. She’s a symbol of a large problem, but the way all of this plays out she gets targeted to collect a disproportionate amount of venom.

Of course I know that. I **** that tone doesn’t come across in typing because I am really sorry if you implied anything like that from what I said. We are all nice people. Simply frustrated nice people. I’m frustrated too (hell, I got really high up on my apple box and in a really sprited way lectured some kids the other day because I was frustrated about their interperetation of “selling out”) when I think of how much I used to enjoy it here and the amount that I enjoy it now (I still like it here and there are some really great people who are newer and blah blah blah, you all know the disclaimer) and I totally get the reason that we’re talking about this. I just said what I said because I thought it was a shame that the conversation was as pointed as it was. And I just felt like we were kind of lashing out at what became more symbolic of a larger problem. I was just thinking that if I had just popped in and asked kind of an inane question I would have been bummed to get hit with this. That’s all. I’m really sorry if you took it as anything more than a “maybe we should throw on the brakes a little” sort of a statement.

when i first started answering here i almost felt bad for Pop listeners because of how harsh some folks are on them in here. as sick as we are of seeing questions about jonas brothers or whoever else, they must be equally or doubly tired of seeing questions about led zeppelin, or queen – especially since the older rock questions tend to be the only ones with legit answers. while some of the bashing is actually funny as hell, a greater part of it is pretty brutal and tiresome.
the fact that yahoo categorized music into only 9 parts is disappointing and causes culture gaps to show up, but what can you do?
and for the record, i think the black metal question was pretty funny. certainly made ME smile…anyway…
addition: my heart’s getting all squishy from the apologies and niceties being passed back and forth. ah, the high road
