The EyeClops MiniProjector from toymaker Jakks Pacific is a minature digital projector that is compact enough to fit into the palm of your hand. The device can run off the mains via an AC adaptor plug but is also designed to be portable,running on on standard D-cell batteries. I know I would have found watching TV on the ceiling particularly cool when I was a kid! The EyeClops Mini Projector system also features onboard speakers.While not theater quality, they are loud enough to be heard throughout the house.
The big weak point of the EyeClops Projector however is it’s brightness. In daylight conditions the device performs quite poorly. All light sources should be fully covered for a good image. The contrast will be poor and the colors faded and washed out when there is too much external light in the room..
The Jakks EyeClops Mini Projector does a much better job when the lights get switched off. Sure you’ll never mistake a EyeClops MiniProjector stystem for a fully-blown home theater , but considering the device sells for less than fifty dollars and is designed for kids, to suggest it is not great value at this price would be unreasonable.
When you consider that the EyeClops Projector has a lot that’s cool about it and is selling at an extremely attractive price, some image issues are forgivable. If you go into the purchase, not expecting home theater quality, you will do just fine. Remember it is sold as a child’s toy.
Summary
The Jakks EyeClops Mini-Projector System is good value and not too expensive for a child’s toy. I recently saw it for sale on Amazon for less than fifty dollars and it is still in the Best Christmas Toys list. It’s definitely a great buy, when you consider the coolness and versitility of this toy.
